Helloooo and welcome back to the Pursuing the Happy Podcast! This episode today is going to be following the mini theme I have going on already, where I chat about my business a bit more and what my goals are for Happily Hedy. Since March is rolling around the corner, and I’m likely going to release this episode early March so it’d be March already when you’re listening to this, it’s a great episode to kickstart a new month with.
So yes, today’s episode is going over the 3 tasks and goals I’ve set for myself in March. These aren’t super huge goals or anything, so I think that’s why there are 3, but it is enough to put a bit of pressure on because I’m still balancing all this with school (haha). Anyways, let’s dive in to the 3 things I’m doing in March 2021 for my business.
1. Podcast intro/outro, and trailer recording
The current state of my podcast is just some intro and outro music, and the current trailer I have is literally one I recorded when I first started this podcast. So…there needs to be some updating.
I personally really like Jenna Kutcher’s podcast intro, I think the music goes so well with her voice and everything. It makes you excited, like, I don’t even feel that annoyed listening to it every single episode.
Now, I don’t know if I have the skills to make it thatttt good, but I’ll try. Either way, I want to do a little update to my podcast. Not sure if I want to buy a professional mike to use too. I currently record from my iPhone if anyone is wondering, so maybe I should invest in a mike. I guess we’ll see.
And also, I really should have done a new podcast intro and outro when I launched season 2. But I thought it’d be more important to get content out than perfect these little things, so here we are.
2. Level up my SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
I’m going to try and double down on my SEO in March a little bit more. I have done more SEO work this year in general, but I think I’ll be writing some more blog posts, optimizing my site more, you know, all the works.
My website DA increased 2 points this year already, which is nice. For anyone who isn’t familiar with the term, DA stands for domain authority, so it’s basically a measure of how likely your site will be found on the first page of Google when someone searches a keyword.
Overall, SEO is really important for the long term success for your website. So while social media is great for building an audience, SEO is more practical for longevity. And most people still search for answers and products or services on Google.
3. Creating more content
As I mentioned in my last episode, I want to focus on bridging the gap between my more informative, SEO focused posts, and my more personal ones. Overall, I think having some more personal stories and content will help bring more of that fun I had in blogging back, and potentially boost SEO more too.
I do kind of hate content creation on Instagram still, because it’s so time consuming. But we’re also trying to do that.
When I first started putting together the notes and ideas for this episode, I originally intended to have 5 goals for March, but now I’m starting to get the sense that I’m putting too much on my plate if I do more, so I’m going to leave it at 3 goals. I think that’s a nice number too because March is the 3rd month, so number 3, get it?
Overall, March is going to be one of those months where I focus in on setting myself up for long term success, as opposed to short term wins. I think that it’s really important to have a balance of those in business. Now, I know I didn’t mention too much specifically in terms of goals client-wise, like getting new clients or reaching revenue goals and stuff. That definitely doesn’t mean I don’t have goals in that area, or won’t be doing client work. I have some existing clients right now doing website work so I think I’ll be finishing that up, and taking on new clients too of course. I just didn’t specifically specify it here as goals since that’s not exactly the focus for this month and episode I guess. 🙂
Anyways, thanks again for tuning in to this episode! I hope it was helpful, or inspiring to hear the goals I set for myself in March. If you haven’t already set yourself some goals for this next month, go do that now!
Looking forward to seeing us crush our goals together and see you in my next episode!
